Marathon International du Beaujolais

The Marathon International du Beaujolais is an exciting blend of athletic challenges and festive celebration, which takes place amidst the picturesque vineyards and historic châteaux of the Beaujolais region in France. The 2025 edition is scheduled for Saturday, 22 November 2025, with the marathon commencing at 9:00 AM from Fleurie and concluding in Villefranche-sur-Saône. ​

There are diverse race options: participants can run the full marathon (42.195 km), half marathon (21.1 km), 13 km, and relay options for teams of 3 or 4 runners. Approximately 95% of the marathon route go through small roads, winding through more than twelve villages and past notable “châteaux” such as Corcelles, Pizay, and Ravatys. The remaining 5% includes vineyard paths, offering runners a diverse and picturesque experience. ​

The event is renowned for its lively ambiance, featuring 15 refreshment stations offering local delicacies and wine tastings. Additionally, the course is enlivened by 30 animations and 35 orchestras, creating a vibrant and entertaining environment for runners and spectators alike. ​A significant number of participants embrace the festive spirit by running in costumes, adding to the event’s unique charm. ​

Shuttle services are available to transport runners from Parc Expo to the starting point in Fleurie between 6:30 and 7:15 AM. Participants also receive a long-sleeved technical T-shirt, a personalized bib (upon request), and a finisher’s medal. ​The event supports various charitable causes, with the Beaujolais Runners Foundation aiming to donate over €150,000 in 2025 to cancer research and other initiatives.
