Rursee Marathon

The Rursee Marathon, held every year in Simmerath-Einruhr in the Eifel in Germany, is a celebrated event that attracts approximately 1,500 participants of all ages. Scheduled for November 8–9, 2025, the 28th edition offers a variety of races, including a 52 km ultramarathon, a 42.2 km marathon, a 16.5 km run, a 5 km run, and children’s races of 600 m and 2 km. The event also features a 16.5 km Nordic Walking competition. The marathon course is a loop that traverses the scenic Eifel National Park, passing along the Obersee, Urftsee, and Rursee, offering runners a picturesque autumnal landscape.

The marathon route is known for its natural beauty and challenging terrain, with approximately 370 meters (!) of elevation gain. The course comprises about 70% field and forest paths and 30% asphalt, providing a diverse running experience. Participants will encounter landmarks such as the Urfttalsperre dam, the Paulushof dam, and the Rurtalsperre, as well as the villages of Rurberg and Woffelsbach. The ultramarathon extends the marathon route with an additional loop through the Eifel highlands, including the areas of Wollseifen and Vogelsang.
