Berenloop Terschelling

The Berenloop Terschelling is an annual running event held on the beautiful island of Terschelling. Scheduled for the weekend of 1–2 November 2025, this event offers a variety of race distances, including a full marathon (42.2 km), half marathon (21.1 km), 10 km, 5 km, and youth runs. The main races take place on Sunday, while the shorter distances, known as the “Kleintje Berenloop,” are held on Saturday morning.
The marathon course traverses diverse terrains, including forests, dunes, and beaches, providing participants with scenic views and a challenging experience. The event is renowned for its unique island atmosphere, with enthusiastic spectators and local festivities enhancing the runner’s experience.
The Berenloop was first organized in 1997 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Willem Barentsz’s voyage, a notable seafarer from Terschelling. The event has since grown into a significant athletic occasion, attracting runners from across the country and beyond.
