Valencia Marathon

The Valencia Marathon, officially known as the “Maratón Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Zurich”, is a well-know marathon held annually in Valencia, Spain. The 2025 edition is scheduled for Sunday, December 7, starting at 8:15 AM from the Plaça de la Marató and finishing at the iconic City of Arts and Sciences. This race is celebrated for its flat, sea-level course, ideal for runners aiming for personal bests, with temperatures typically ranging between 12°C and 17°C in December. It is one of the most popular runs for Dutch runners that are eager to do a run outside of the Netherlands.

The marathon is recognized as one of the fastest in the world, earning a World Athletics Platinum Label. In 2024, it achieved a historic milestone with the top 10 male finishers averaging 2:04:15, the best in marathon history. The event attracts over 35,000 runners from more than 120 countries, making it a global gathering for elite athletes and amateur runners alike. Participants receive a race bib with a timing chip, a New Balance technical T-shirt, a runner’s bag, and access to ten refreshment points along the route. The marathon also supports charitable causes, with donations collected during registration and a contribution from the Z Zurich Foundation.
